This has taken far too long to get back to my blog- as much as 2020 was a dumpster fire for the world, it was July 15th for me too! Long story short, Mark and I got locked out on our second story deck by the big black dog, Angus. Living at the top of the mountain has definite advantages in privacy, but in a moment like this, our phones on the kitchen counter and us locked out on the second floor, it was a problem! In a moment of over confidence in my athletic abilities, I made the fateful decision to climb over the deck thinking I would be able to hang down and get my feet onto the deck rail below allowing me to get into the house and get Mark back in.
Needless to say, I have come to learn that college athleticism and cheerleading abilities expire at age 55. I DID NOT stick the landing and did end up dislocating my ankle, breaking the tibia and fibula, slicing all ligaments, nerves and tendons. A little unnerving to see my ankle laying next to my leg! Mark had to come down the same way, but was far better at landing and was able to get in and call for help.
Huge thanks to Corby, Jeremiah of the EMS crew for the quick care and transport to Asheville where Dr. Frisch put me back together again! It was a long road of self rehab but I am well on my way back to full range of movement and no limp. Coming up on 6 mos post accident and I am on my way back!
